Less noise. More Life.
Nature. Plants. People. Being alive.
Welcome to The Alder Path
Welcome to the Alder Path!
Over the last few years, I have been exploring a different way of working and living.
Less emphasis on fixing ourselves.
More time outdoors
More connection with nature
More noticing, walking, growing and simply being.
I'm a gardener, nature lover and coach and I'm increasingly interested in what happens when we step away from the endless project of self-improvement, less time on our screens and more time in the living world that is nature.
Perhaps you are tired of working on yourself, tired of trying to optimise everything to the end degree, tired of always having another goal, another improvement to make, another version of yourself to become.
Perhaps it's not another framework we need, but more time in nature, with plants, with trees, with water, with other people.
And perhaps somewhere in all of that, something shifts......

How I work with people..
Walking
We walk through woodland, countryside, gardens and other green spaces, nature becomes the co-coach and provides the open space to breathe, to consider your own life's pathways.
Growing
Plants have a way of changing our sense of time. Growing something gives us a different relationship with patience, care and attention, whilst also providing a canvass for our own creativity and growth. Where possible, I bring this element into our coaching journey together.
Nature
Sometimes just being somewhere green and quiet is enough to change the quality of our day, to allow our thoughts to become unstuck, to see possibilities and options clearly, and to simply be you.
Conversation
And sometimes, while we are doing all of this, something really important gets talked about. Conversations in nature hit differently, there's a spacious quality to it, nature doesn't judge.
Perhaps you are ready for something different?
Maybe you're.....

Spending too much time inside your own head.
Tired of constantly trying to improve yourself
Craving more time outdoors
Fascinated by nature, plants and gardening (not necessarily all of them!)
Missing a sense of connection with the natural world.
Looking for a meaningful conversation without sitting in a room.
Going through a transition
Simply wanting to spend time somewhere beautiful in nature, being present and feeling more alive.
What if life isn't a project?
I've spent a lot of my working life helping people think about change, direction and how to live better.
Lately, I've been questioning something.
What if we're exhausted partly because we're constantly treating ourselves as projects to improve?
A tree isn't optimising.
A veg patch isn't working in it's mindset.
A season isn't trying to become Autumn more efficiently.
Things grow, decay, rest, regenerate and change.
Perhaps nature offers us another way of thinking about life.
Not "How can I become a better version of myself?"
but "How can I experience being alive?"

Work with me..
Walk and Talk
A single, two-hour walk and talk session. Sometimes there's a particular thing you want to explore. Sometimes you don't know what it is yet. A quiet, unhurried conversation about where you are, what matters most, and what might need to change. No commitment required, just a beginning.

What people have said about working with me....
"Not sure I can put into words how much a positive impact Roger's coaching has had on my life! Around 4 years ago, he helped me navigate a difficult period of change and transition. As I recently found myself entering a new and scary territory once again, it felt right to return for some coaching. I have just finished the second session of my coaching package and the difference in how I feel already is just amazing. His support, guidance and remarkable ability to help me identify where exactly I want to be (and how to get there) is just so powerful. Rather than feeling confused, overwhelmed and lost, I now have clarity and feel excited, focused and determined to meet my future goals.”

”Roger has been my lifecoach since 2021 and I can say without hesitation that the coaching services he provides is excellent on so many levels that have helped me to grow personally and professionally over the last 4 years. Roger takes a personalised "guide by your side" approach to helping you define and meet your life goals, from career and finances to health and relationships. In addition, a core element weaved into the coaching sessions is mindfulness and spending time in nature in order to pause and reflect on your goals and resilience for meeting them. Roger provides an array of techniques to help you deal with life's varying demands in a pragmatic way with regular check-ins to ensure you are progressing as planned. I found I was able to take a bird's eye view of where I am in life, my achievements, areas for improvement and next steps. Roger's kind and empathetic approach enables you to freely express yourself and engage with a diverse range of ideas, options and solutions. This is so valuable in enabling you to strengthen your focus and gain the most from the coaching sessions. So if you are at a juxtaposition in life or simply wanting to steer in a more well-defined direction with some well-needed support, then I strongly recommend you begin your journey by contacting Roger.”
