Less noise. More Life.

Whole life essentialism coaching for people ready to live with less noise and more intention

Welcome to Alder Path Coaching - With Roger Hunt

Welcome, I'm Roger, nature based life coach, essentialist, gardener and someone who believes that a quieter, more intentional life is not a compromise. It's a choice.

I work with people in midlife and onwards who are done with the noise. Who sense - often without being able to name it - that they're carrying too much. Too many roles, too many obligations, too many versions of themselves being maintained for too many audiences.

My coaching is grounded in whole life essentialism. Not the corporate pursuit of peak performance. something quieter and more human than that. The disciplined pursuit of what actually matters - applied to the whole of your life. Your time, your energy, your attention, your identity, your daily rhythms.

We work outdoors. Walking, in nature, at the pace that real thinking actually requires. No office, no notepad, no performance required. Just honest conversation, unhurried, in the kind of space that helps things become clear.

The Approach

Meaningful change doesn't come from pushing harder or reinventing everything overnight.

It comes from getting clear about what actually matters. Identifying what's getting in the way and making the small, honest, considered choices that move your life toward something truer.

I work with people over 40 who are capable, thoughtful, and often carrying a great deal - even when things look fine from the outside. People who value depth over quick fixes. Who are ready to ask honest questions and sit with the answers long enough for something real to emerge.

My coaching is walk and talk, nature based and unhurried. Sessions happen outdoors, in woodlands, on footpaths, in gardens - because the natural world has a particular way of settling the nervous system and loosening the thinking that sits too tight indoors.

I'm also a gardener, part of my week is spent tending a large private garden. The garden teaches me something I bring into every coaching conversation - that things grow at their own pace, that tending matters more than forcing, and that the most important work is often the quietest.

Is this for you?

This work might be right for you if:

  • You're in midlife and life feels full but not quite right.

  • You're overwhelmed not by one big thing but by the accumulated weight of too many small things that individually seem reasonable but collectively are crushing.

  • You're done with performing for audiences that never quite needed the performance.

  • You want to build something quieter and more intentional - but aren't sure yet what that looks like or how to get there.

  • You value slow, honest, nature-based conversation over quick fixes and action plans.

  • You arrive confused and overwhelmed and want to leave clear and calm.

About Essentialism

What is Whole life essentialism?

We are bombarded with choice, noise, comparison and the relentless pressure to do more, be more, have more. Most of us have accumulated roles, obligations and identities that crept in without being chosen - and that are quietly draining the energy we need for what actually matters.

Whole life essentialism asks three simple questions.

What actually matters?

Getting beneath the accumulated layers of habit and expectation to find what genuinely matters to you. Not what should matter, what does.

What's getting in the way?

The non-essential. The noise, the comparison, the obligations that arrived without invitation. Named clearly enough to make an honest decision about them.

What does less look like?

Your particular, personal version of enough. Not a generic minimalism. A life stripped back to what's genuinely yours - and tended with full attention.

This is not about doing nothing. It's about doing the right things. The essential things. With full presence, full care, and without the weight of everything else.

Client Reflections on our work together

"Not sure I can put into words how much a positive impact Roger's coaching has had on my life! Around 4 years ago, he helped me navigate a difficult period of change and transition. As I recently found myself entering a new and scary territory once again, it felt right to return for some coaching. I have just finished the second session of my coaching package and the difference in how I feel already is just amazing. His support, guidance and remarkable ability to help me identify where exactly I want to be (and how to get there) is just so powerful. Rather than feeling confused, overwhelmed and lost, I now have clarity and feel excited, focused and determined to meet my future goals.”

- Linda Shearman, Founder and Psychotherapeutic counsellor at Sakaura Pathways Counselling

”Roger has been my lifecoach since 2021 and I can say without hesitation that the coaching services he provides is excellent on so many levels that have helped me to grow personally and professionally over the last 4 years. Roger takes a personalised "guide by your side" approach to helping you define and meet your life goals, from career and finances to health and relationships. In addition, a core element weaved into the coaching sessions is mindfulness and spending time in nature in order to pause and reflect on your goals and resilience for meeting them. Roger provides an array of techniques to help you deal with life's varying demands in a pragmatic way with regular check-ins to ensure you are progressing as planned. I found I was able to take a bird's eye view of where I am in life, my achievements, areas for improvement and next steps. Roger's kind and empathetic approach enables you to freely express yourself and engage with a diverse range of ideas, options and solutions. This is so valuable in enabling you to strengthen your focus and gain the most from the coaching sessions. So if you are at a juxtaposition in life or simply wanting to steer in a more well-defined direction with some well-needed support, then I strongly recommend you begin your journey by contacting Roger.”
